This trail extends off the Volunteer Trail at Long Hunter State Park near Nashville, TN. From about the midway point on the Volunteer loop the trail leaves the loop to follow the shore of Percy Priest lake to two campsites. A nice hike with a destination for lunch or a close to home overnight.

Very easy hike if you are used to hiking. Easy to follow but not really any inclines to get the heart rate up. Was 88 outside but with all the trees and coverage it didn’t feel very hot at all. Was a Saturday and thought there would be more people, so you don’t have to worry about there being too many people on the trail. If you are taking a break from more difficult trails, this is certainly a good trail.

A pretty easy trail, well marked. Has some nice views of the lake and benches along the way to take a break. Passed quite a few people. The only thing I dislike about the trail is the amount of garbage I find. There are a couple pretty good lake spots and I guessing that attracts some party-people who fail to respect the trail. Will be back to do the Volunteer Trail at some point!

Some nice spots, especially about halfway along the bluff. Plenty of people but most dogs were on leash. Easy trail

Overall, nice trail. There are some beautiful views and is relatively easy. Only drawback is during boating season the trail takes you along “party cove” which creates some noise pollution for a small section. Some do let dogs off leash.

Pretty trail with hardwoods transitioning to cedar glades. Parallels Percy Priest reservoir. Limited elevation change but worth the trip.

Hiked out to the kiosk and back using this trail. Little bit of elevation change to get to the overlooks of the lake. Nice hike.

Really enjoyed this trail. Pretty views and you could work your way around the mud. Took us a couple hours, but my walk partner had to stop for some tests. Benches throughout.

The hike looks beautiful but it rained like crazy after I started the trail. Lots of small wildlife, particularly birds. Trail is well marked and seems perfect for families, even though it is a bit long.

Great views along the lake, lots of animals as well as being quiet and clean.

While the trail was a bit muddy it was in decent condition. It was not crowded feeling despite the full parking lot. The slight climbs were easy and overall i would say this trail is easy more so than moderate. It was a very nice way to spend an hour and a half.

Love this trail. Due to all the rain you have to walk off the trail multiple times. But it was beautiful and are great Dave and Doberman loved it to!

Great hike! It made for a wonderful Sunday afternoon. One frustration was the people who walked with their dogs off leash. So if you have a dog that does not like other dogs, be aware that these off leash dogs could be a problem for you.

Perfect trail for an easy weekend hike. Runs along the lake and has some great views. Can get crowded at times but nothing too bad.

like others have said it can get a bit muddy here but great trail with some cool rock bluffs near the lake good for a rest and view.

mostly an easy trail, but we made the mistake of going when it was stormy, which led to a bunch of mud and puddles. super good views though!

Great 4 mile trail with lots of water access. If it’s muddy, certain spots get slick. But overall fantastic.

Great trail. The lakeside views are great in the winter.

I would call this trail easy. It follows the shoreline of the lake and can be quite busy during the nice days. We definitely plan to backpack the volunteer trail sometime soon

Good trail. Did the 3.9 mile day loop trail. It rained the last two days so I thought it would be super muddy. It was not! Little bit of ricks and roots. But not overgrown at all and only saw one other hiker. Little slippery when the sky opened up on us, but the canopy was good cover for the most part.
