Parts of trail were grown over with bush. Wear long pants and bug spray.

Nice trail if you are trying to get away from the crowds. A lot of foliage and flowers. Only a few views of the mountains and those are blocked by trees. We started late, around 1pm and were done just before 4pm. We didn't see anyone else on the trail but we did see evidence of bears. Parking for the trail is down the road at the picnic area. There is a tiny trail that leads to the trail head.

Moderate running trail with many roots and rocks. Very few people and makes for a nice morning run; however, proper trail shoes are needed rather than regular running shoes or you will risk injury such as a rolled ankle. Some spots were difficult to run up and down due to the incline. I ended up running it twice totally 13.1 miles in an hour and 45 min.

Honestly not a whole lot to this hike. Steep climb up to the ridge. A couple glances at a nice view, but overall too much tree coverage for really nice views. We connected it to Meigs Creek trail. The latter had 13 creek crossings from the top. Not worth it until the creek is much lower!

This trail had pretty views of the rolling mountains and three mini waterfalls that flowed through the trail. It was mostly uphill on the way there and was an easy downhill walk on the way back. We feared of seeing a bear from signs written on the trail, but we didn’t see one! The trail was densely packed with green but it would open up to areas with sparse trees. We did not see anyone else on the trail! Nice private hike!

Hiked Lumber Ridge, Meigs Mountain, and Curry Mountain. Curry Mountain is a great place to see mountain laurel and rhododendrons when in bloom.

Note that my recording is from the top down. From the trailhead it’s a steady climb to the top. No water hazards. There is enough space for two cars East of the trailhead but more likely you will need to park at the Metcalf Bottoms Picnic Area.

Some pretty views on the way up in early spring. Would not be as scenic in the summer with full foliage due to obstructed views. Some nice rhododendron foliage near the trail. Not too steep but will give you a workout!

The trail is certainly more than the 6.4 miles, from the parking lot out and back the 3 of us recoded all over 7.5miles, besides this we enjoyed the hike a lot and might just have to do a do over in the spring or summer when all rhododendrons are blooming.

Hiked this trail on 11/5/2017 and it was absolutely beautiful. The bright yellow leaves illuminated the trail most of the way. There were occasional openings with views of nearby mountains also covered with beautifully colored trees. We did a 2-car hike--parked one car at the Metcalf Bottoms picnic area and the other car in Elkmont. We started on Jakes Creek to Meigs Mountain to Curry Mountain. Wonderful hike for peak week when the leaves show their colors.

A nice moderate hike over to Elkmont. The first mile up will get your blood flowing but after that it's an easy hike. hang a right on Meigs Mountain Trail and go see the old cemetery just a few hundred yards up the trail on your right.

Beautiful wide trail. Gradual incline with mountain views while the trees are bare. Many birds, moss, wild flowers and a few small stream crossings. Be sure to travel just a bit further out towards the Sinks to discover a beautiful cemetery. (Polly Huskey) Peaceful, quiet, no one else on the trail.
