Lots of elevation. 1 mile in the trail gets a little squirrelly...tough to find the marked trail...but after that very well marked and taken care of.

Good elevation changes but not too steep. Good for trail running and beautiful blue springs towards the end.

Went about three miles in from the Mowbray Pike trailhead. Saw the climbers and all at the beginning. VERY cool place to explore rock formations all along this thing. Parking is a bit tight on pretty days.

Well marked and maintained trail. Great views off the bluff and will be even better when the leaves finish falling. I’ll be back again for sure.

HikingBlowdown

This is a nice trail but be prepared for some pretty steep downhills and ups on your way back. There is a blowdown across the trail 1.25 miles from the trail head. It’s in a pretty sketchy location so I didn’t attempt to find a way around it (I am old and fat so you young kids can probably get around it.

Some nice views, a small waterfall. But there are no stone houses.

First to Review

Mowbray Pike Trailhead to Little Soddy Creek Trailhead (4.8 miles total) Mile 0.3 - Bluffs with open overlook of Tennessee Valley Mile 0.5 - Mikel Branch, Small waterfall, labyrinth of boulders, rockhouses, and Little Stone Door After navigating through the labyrinth of boulders and passing through Little Stone Door, the main trail is not very eventful until near the halfway mark at mile 2.4 At mile 2.4, you will encounter boulders and large rock walls. After passing this complex, the trail follows the edge of the bluffs at the eastern edge of the Cumberland Plateau. Eventually the trail follows a narrow ridge with the eastern bluffs to the right and deep ravine to the left. The trail along the ridge is surrounded by lots of dead pine trees that squeak and creak as you pass by. The trail descends into the ravine, then back up the ridge, then down and across to the western side of the ravine. It climbs downwards through a network of stream beds to Little Soddy Creek.
