This trail, for the first roughly two miles, earns its hard rating. I went after a good week of rain in February and it was pretty apparent that it had. There are a few trees down that disappear the trail temporarily, and the mud and muck made it a little sketchy at times, but overall I liked the trail.

The views are pretty scarce for a mountain hike, but for the most part this is a fun little trail that's out of the way and quite peaceful. If you want to take your time and enjoy the trail (or aren't in the best shape) I'd allot about 3.5-4.5 hours.

P.S. I'd think twice about bringing smaller children on this one. Sometimes the trail gets pretty narrow and a slip could prove to be disastrous to a nice day out with the family.
