First, as another reviewer stated, the trail is named incorrectly; it is Cooper Gap Trail (#119)(got the signage picture to prove it). Second, if you are coming here by vehicle, it better be a solid off-road worthy 4x4 as the forestry road is really tough in some spots and nearly five miles in from the main highway. Third, if you are a hammock camper, this is a great trail to find a nice quiet area to unwind with lots of water sources (none major though, so they might be dry during drought conditions). Lastly, for hiking, I would rate this trail as moderate for someone not wearing a pack but possibly on the hard side for heavy pack wearers. Lots of rocks and mud, but that isn’t surprising as this trail is also used by horses. Overall, recommended, but get there early; there’s only one place to park at the trailhead.

We ride horseback on this trail quite a bit as it is close to home. Has some nice views in spots. Pretty and quiet. From this trail you can access other trails such as Starr Mountain Horse Trail, Burkett Ivens Trail, Yellow Creek, and Hog Back Spur. BTW, this map is incorrectly labeled. This is Coopers Gap Trail on Starr Mountain and there is no lake.
