Pretty easy trail. We started at the cannons and walked to the top of the hill. Easy with a kid. Lots of birds and places to stop.

Great shade coverage. Where I stumbled onto was a blocked off 2-track off the main road. good coverage and a TON OF TICKS. The trail seemed marked well, with a couple informational signs along the way. Leaves and brush need clearing it just doesn't look like it's used often. turned around due to the ticks on the dog and confusion where to go after a small bridge. Close to highway but you remain in the woods despite the proximity to the road.

This is a decent trail, would definitely recommend connecting it with the other trails in the park. It is an easy trail to follow, though having blazes marked more often along the way would be a great improvement. The fact that it is a National Battlefield adds to the allure and enjoyment of the trail. Getting to spot the bald eagle was an extra plus. I don’t live close enough to want to do this trail again. But it makes for an excellent day trip from Nashville/Franklin area. There are parts of the trail that get rather steep and provides a decent aerobic workout.

Great place to hike! Love the history behind this battlefield. Worth going. Also there is a bald eagle that lives here. Great watch it fly.

SMALL HISTORICAL SITE. NOT MANY PEOPLE OR TRAFFIC. GOOD ADDITION, IF YOU VISIT FORT DONELSON.
