I just started walking in this trail a month ago. I come to this area from KY once a week for acupuncture close by. Depends on what you’re looking for as to which way you go. Either way, you get good ups and downs but it is more up going CCW and vice versa as far as intense sections. Around the switchbacks, the trail gets more narrow and slightly on an incline so be aware. There are some nice flat stretches and plenty of variety as to being a wide gravel path, then into the forest to a dirt path with leaves, rocks, roots, etc. I’ve really enjoyed this trail, having now hiked it both ways. If you keep up with your “floors” on your Fitbit, you get 45 floors CCW and 40 CW. With any urban woods trail, you will get some traffic noise; it’s a great asset to have. Well-marked and maintained.

HikingGreat!

Nice trail with two very well marked spurs. The trail starts off as packed gravel but shortly became packed earth. There were a couple of wet spots, but the trail was in really good condition. It's really close to highway 100, so there's a substantial amount of road noise. But most of the trail looks like you're pretty remote. This was my first hike on this trail, and I really enjoyed it. I will definitely be back. Note: no trail running or pets (even leashed) are permitted.

Some decent sized hills on an otherwise well compacted trail! Lots of wildlife along the trail and wonderful fields to look at. A wonderful hike!

A great trail if you don't want to leave the city to enjoy a bit of nature. Heavily trafficked and noise from the road but still a nice quick getaway.

Well graded and easy to follow. Noisy from HWY-100 unless you’re on the western side below the ridge line.

Nice trail and not busy on Saturday morning at 9. Several inclines to get your heart rate up but not difficult. Really enjoyed.

I did the loop counterclockwise (taking a right at the trail sign). At first it was a little boring with wide open meadows, but then there is a good climb up to the top of the hill which has some beautiful giant trees! Beware! Don’t go off the trail! Learn from my experience! I pranced around off trail and got chiggers all around my ankles even with tall hiking socks and picardin bug lotion.
