Bridge is still out but you can easily cross the creek. We hiked up to the Cumberland Trail and cane back.

The directions on AllTrails suggest passing over the creek on Back Valley Road and then turning right to the trail. The trailhead and parking lot are just prior to passing over the creek. We followed the directions as given and ended up in a neighborhood on a dead end road. This trail is highly rated by many. I think it is because there are lots of great swimming holes as you hike along the creek. There are also lots of picnic tables, park benches, port-a-potties, trash bins and poopy bag stations to ensure that folks pick up after their dogs. Unfortunately, we were disappointed. This time of year (late June) the “waterfalls “ is a mere trickle over a rock cliff. The majority of the hike is very easy on a gravel road. There was one creek crossing, which can easily be done without getting wet. After crossing the creek, the trail T’s. The trail map on this webpage suggests that the trail includes going both directions. The trail to the right is a gradual incline on a very rocky and often washed out path. The further one follows the trail, the narrower it becomes. There were multiple downed trees that clearly have been there a very long time. We went to the end (according to the map) and there was a huge boulder/rock face. On our way back down we passed many families who were heading to the “blue pool” (a deep swimming hole). We never saw it but never took the side trails. No where on the path did we encounter signs or markers. The trail to the left at the T is another flat, wide gravel road through the woods. At the end it just stopped. It was a nice walk in the woods but not overly scenic or interesting. If I lived in the vicinity, I think this would be an awesome place to bring the family and hang out for a day (picnic, swim, hike) however, it is not worth a drive as a hiking destination.

Great little hike. This was way better than expected and perfect for little kids (ages 1 and 1/2 and 6). There were portable restrooms available if needed and lots of rest benches. Scenic on both sides of the trails, but the water views are serene and picturesque. A true hidden gem. We will be back!

This was a nice trail along the creek. It is VERY heavily trafficked, and if you want to enjoy some spots along the swimming holes, you may want to go early in the day.

Very clear trail, wide gravel road through out. I enjoyed this easy hike. Once you reach the water you have to cross (towards the end, you’ll see as the gravel trail comes to an end) you either go left (dead end) or fork off right leds to serval swim spots, beautiful views, and waterfalls. Be cautious as the trail then turns into steep rocky/ rooted path. Very nice view and blue water. Plan to visit again soon.

Beautiful hike with clear water all around. Sign says no bathrooms, but there are a couple of porta-potty's along the way. We plan on going back next weekend to fish.

A little wet past the bridge. Do not pass it up if the parking lots are full. There’s plenty of room on the trail.

Do it on a weekday as it is crowded on weekends. I had the most fun looking off-trail for the waterfalls I could hear from the trail. Best parts are on the far side of the bridge.

Nice walk. A lot of dogs. Easy with kids. Beautiful creek with lots of water and pools. Probably great for summer bathing. After the bridge the right trail was closed and the left trail wasn’t well maintained after a mile. Some showers with not much place to take cover.

very easy hike along a Creek with a couple of spots to get in or let your pup swim. went on labor day and it was getting busy by 10am. some pretty rock formations along the way as well. cool in the morning at 9am but was getting pretty warm by 10am. earlier is probably better if you don't like crowds.

This is the first TN trail I’ve gone to explore. The trail head is easily accessible and the trail before the bridge over the river is a wide gravel path, very easy to follow. The trail leads passed a few beautiful swimming areas, very child friendly, and waterfalls. Once you cross the bridge the trail transforms into more of a dirt beat down path and the trail has multiple lay downs across it. I recommend the beginning of the trail to anyone wanting a safe area to take the family for a picnic/swimming adventure.

Great trail. Very easy wide trail for about 1.2 miles. Then it splits. Went up right side first. Shortly after you pass a gate there is a beautiful deep turquoise colored crystal clear pool (when the sun hits it) on your right. Very cold but so nice. We walked up the creek on the side of it also. We’ll back on the trail you have quite a few logs, rocky and it gets narrower. We used a stick to avoid spiderwebs. We got to the waterfall but there was only a slight trickle. Pretty scenery though. We hiked back down and then went down the left trail which is much flatter. It ends at another creek which is also nice for swimming but not as clear and definitely warmer. Overall very nice hike. I ran the last 1.5 miles back to the car and did a few loops, therefore I had a total of 6 miles.

Beautiful area! So many places with small waterfalls and many places to go swimming if you're looking for that. You can get some beautiful pictures of the stream and rocks. I didn't go all the way back down the trail so I don't know if there is a waterfall like some people say, but there is said to be a waterfall on the trail. Highly recommend, but once you get past the 2 mile marker there seems to be a lot more bugs so be sure to bring a little bug spray if you plan to go all the way to the end of the trail.

Epic navigational fail by me or all trails offline map. This is a very scenic trail. The first mile is along the stream with cliffs and a waterfall. The first mile the trail is obvious. I After 2 miles I was near private property....the trail was covered with fallen trees and boulders. I scrambled but could never find the trail and finish it. It was very scenic though and peaceful.
