This trail is a short walk to a bluff with a jaw-dropping view. It is technically on private property, but well-behaved visitors are always welcome. As a teenager, I would bike (from my grandparents’ farmhouse) 20 miles up the Calfkiller Highway, then climb Verble Ridge to Bee Rock. It always amazed me how a small, prosaic shelf of sandstone could frame out a landscape so glorious and majestic. Finding this place serendipitously while on one of my bike rides felt like finding a Narnian painting in the attic of an abandoned house — one that could literaly transport me to another world. Sitting on the bluff edge — breathing in the sounds and smells for an hour — would completely gelatinize my worries. I would decend the plateau a new being. For a few hours afterward, every moment was a gift. I haven’t been back to this spot in many years. Today, I hiked here with my nephew and parents. It’s still magic to me.

We try going here. An older gentleman told us to leave because it’s private property and nobody is to be on it.

View is great. Trail isn’t bad. You have to go by the creepy inn to get to the trail head. Really not clear where to start when you pull up. A little sketchy at first

Be sure to go around the grey house so we can avoid going into what I can describe as creepy woods. But once your on the trail its a short walk to an amazing view of the beautiful Tennessee woods.

Short hike to a very nice overlook. Trail needs to be cleared of junk in the woods. Otherwise excellent. Watch your step along rocks.

Really great spot. To get to it walk behind the abandoned building and head straight. Easy trail to follow; especially with using this app :)

I drove out of my way to get here. I had no way of knowing how to get to the trail. The map ends at some abandoned inn and some type of place that looks like a house that is private property. I left since I didn't know where to go.

This is just an easy, short walk thru the woods to a very large rocky overlook. What a tremendous view! Definitely the kind of place you want to go back and see in every season. I’ll definitely go back when the trees start to turn color in the fall. There are some side trails to explore if you’re feeling adventurous, but those are a little more rugged, depending on how far you follow them.

Hidden treasure for sure. The views are INCREDIBLE. Very short and easy walk to the overlook. Great place for a picnic. Be very careful with children and pets. Secret spot: to your right before you get to the big clearing, look for the trees with black electric tape around the trunk. If you follow that hidden trail you’ll find a narrow spot going down in the cliff where you can find a blue/green rope to climb down and see some caves. I uploaded photos to the gallery of the trees and the rope. Be careful!

It’s was a nice walk. Me and “piper the dog” went. It was super hot. Lots of shade for her to lay out on the cooler shaded rocks.

This trail is super easy and the view at the end is beautiful! Parking is weird (in front of an old grey building) but you just walk behind it and get started. There were a few cigarettes and a can but we picked up whatever we saw. We had a dog with us and she did fine!

As far as I understand it, Bee Rock has recently been opened and is no longer to be considered private property. It is open from sunrise to sunset. The owners of the Bed and Breakfast have no right to tow cars or close the trail after 5pm. Feel free to enjoy the cliff but as always, remember to keep the trail and bluff area clean and never throw things off the sides of the bluff. The cliff is popular for climbers who have been working hard to keep it clean and have done a lot of work advocating for this beautiful formation. Help out by picking up trash that you see while you’re on your hike!

It was a little confusing trying to figure out where to park and find the trail. Park at the lot in front of the abandoned looking gray a frame building then walk behind that building and follow the road/trail out to the lookout point. Gorgeous views. Will have to come back in the fall.

The owners of the “hotel” are hateful and so picky of when you can and can’t come here. Beautiful hike during the day, beautiful overlook, but once it come 5pm don’t even think about being there or they will tow your car.

Very short walk, but worth it! Bee Rock is beautiful, especially in the winter after a good snow! Worth popping over to checkout, but as others have mentioned, STRICT 9-5 hours, so plan accordingly!
