This is a good trail for a mixture of easy and moderate if you're trying to build up hiking stamina like I am. Very beginning is uphill and starts a little tough but it evens out and has some flat areas after that. When you are almost to the shelter you will have to cross creeks three times so wear water proof shoes or just be ready to rock hop. I added this hike to this site and couldn't get the map to fully cooperate with me but read the directions on how to get there and you'll be fine. Pretty easy to find. Since the map is a little off, the distance is off also. It's actually a 2.7 mile hike (5.4 total for the out and back). We hiked it in January so there were nice mountain views and beautiful snow. In the summer it will probably not have any visible mountain views but should have nice blooms. You can make this hike much longer if you keep going past the shelter.
