This backpack trip offers views of Roan, Unaka & Grandfather Mtns This backpack trip offers many different experiences and I'll try to highlight these to coincide with the waypoints on the map. You will spend a few hours to arrange the car shuttle so the low mileage day will be day 1. At 1.7 mi you reach the side trail to Coon Den Falls and 2.6 mi R/T to falls. At 2.8 you reach White Rocks Mt and a spur trail leads to the tower for views. At 5.8 is the Moreland Gap Shelter if you choose to stay here or there is a campsite at 7.3 mi. Day 2 begins will easy ridge walking for about 6 mi until you reach Walnut Mt Rd. From here it will descend through wooded acreage until you reach US19E.
