Lots of dried pine needles made the trail pretty slippery. Going out was not bad but coming back had a lot of up hill

It's a okay hike. The trail is not used much, the trace gets small or overgrown but is still easy to follow. There are lots of markings. Stay on #40. The 1st two miles are not that scenic, but the 1 1/2 miles leading into Silver City are beautiful and made the hike worthwhile.

we hiked this trail during a beautiful snow storm October 15th 2018, there were some of the most breathtaking views of the snow covered trees and the peaks and rocks along the way. the trail was pretty easy to hike up until we came to the fork where you can follow the slate creek or continue on following the rapid creek, we choose to go the slate creek way and found several creek crossings that were narrow boards and that portion of the trail was moderately strenuous in my opinion, alot of inclines and the snow was making the rocks rather slick. we had decided to turn around because of the slick conditions from the snow and not wanting to take the risk of an injury. we will probably through hike this trail in the summer sometime when the conditions are a little better for back packing and probably start at Deerfield lake this next time. so overall I say this is definitely an awesome trail and well worth the time!!

Little steep for about a half mile once you leave Centennial Trail on to #40 so I would give it between easy to moderate. Nice open meadow walk for the last mile into Silver City. Close to paved roads so around Rally time can't escape cycle noise.

We only went in 2 miles and turned around because was a really hot day, i would say it should be ranked moderate not easy. A lot of elevation climb in what we walked.

No need for a 50 lb pack!! This was my first 2 day trip hike trip ever in i think 2012 maybe.. I'm in MUCH better shape now.. If you starting at Deerfeild, have your pick up car in Slivercity!!! no need for the rest of the hike, that parts brutal after 2 days of walking...
