No signs anywhere indicate this trail is called Twin Ponds or anything other than Blue Wall Preserve. It was hot, with little shade cover on this early spring day. We took it slow but wished we’d started earlier. A lot of mud on the south end of 2nd lake.

Some muddy areas but still a very nice walk. The waterfall is nice though the base is not big. The parking lot holds about eight cars and very few people on the trail. I will be back, the trail was well marked and groomed.

This is a nice, quiet area where the path is wide and well maintained. There are a couple of spots around the back half of the second pond that regularly wash out after a hard rain. Deep, muddy areas remain along the trail requiring strategically placed logs to help hikers/walkers traverse these spots. Overall a nice hike with a lovely waterfall at about the midway point.

Not wilderness, but some nice woods and waterfalls. Close to my house. Will do it again.

Bird watchingGreat!

Beautiful scenery, the lake is calm with a backdrop that is probably even better in the summer months. Long trail with waterfall sounds near you. Easy to medium, some steep parts.

This trail is rated easy and I would agree with that. The first half mile or so is a continuous incline so if your knees cause issue, trekking poles would be beneficial. This is a highly rewarding trail in that you get lots of scenic views in a short distance. The trail was still quite muddy a week after rain but there are logs and rocks to step on in the worse spots. I went 10am on a Thursday morning and got the last parking spot. people were parked all along the shoulder by the time I finished.

Beautiful, well maintained trail! Some super wide, some a little narrower around the 2nd pond but gorgeous! Make sure to take the left at the first pond, you’ll hear the waterfall & it’s a perfect little spot to see stunning falls, hold on to the littles some steep drop offs! But fav hike with my family & puppy!

There are actually two waterfalls to check out - one is by the upper lake and is labeled on the trail signs, the other is a little trail off the lower lake - not hard to find just not marked

The Twin Ponds trail is located in the Blue Wall Preserve just south of North Carolina near Lake Lanier. It's a relatively easy three and a half mile jaunt through the woods with a waterfall and views of NC's Hogback Mountain. The elevation gain here is minimal, and the trails are wide enough to accommodate large groups or dogs without any issue. From the parking lot, you head southwest for a half mile or so along a paved path until you come to a mixed gravel and sand trail that is still plenty wide. Once you get to the waterfall loop, sand is the predominant feature of the path. I completed this hike on a sunny January Saturday in about an hour, and there were perhaps 30 or so others in groups of varying sizes on the trail at the same time. Still, there was plenty of room to move out of the way and to social distance. The parking lot is not large and can house maybe eight cars. There is parking along the road, however. The trail was clean and well-maintained. I packed out an old soda bottle, but that was the only trash I saw all day. Highlights here are the shoreline views from both ponds and the waterfall, though the waterfall is a tad underwhelming compared to some of the nearby attractions. Still, if you've got limited time on a Saturday, it's worth visiting.
