Was a pretty decent hike.
Not bad, not one of the best but ok for a new place to try.
Great hike. Will do this one again.
The trail head is near the Ranger station at Jones Gap State Park. It's a scenic trail that follows the Middle Saluda River. In and out the trail is 10.3 miles but I exited at US 276 for a 5.3 mile hike..It was midweek and was very little traffic that day. The trail is rocky and sandy with designated campsites along the way. There is a river crossing over a bridge as well as a couple of creek crossings. Recommend for an overnighter.
I did this trail a couple of weeks ago and it was great. I found it to be easy to moderate. I began in Caesars Head State Park and it ran along Raven Cliff Falls for a couple of miles or more. I plan on going back when the leaves are gone as there will be some beautiful views.
