We were the only two cars in the parking lot when we arrived at 9am on a Saturday morning. Looking for a trail head the first one we found said Palmetto trail but the only Palmetto trail marked on the park map is way on the other side of the park? Since we didn't want to start off in the wrong place, we decided to continue down the street a little and found the Fairforest Creek trail. We followed it down to the bridge which takes you over to the Southside Trail System. There's a sign at the bridge warning you that it is the only crossing and that the trail system beyond is extensive, to get a map at the park office if you are unfamiliar with it. We followed the Southside Loop Trail clockwise and found it to be pretty well marked. I'd call it an easy to moderate trail (though it did get quite slippery in some place with snow still melting!) We startled a large herd of dear, must have been at least 10, just behind the shooting range of all places but saw only smaller critters after that. On the first half of our hike we didn't encounter anyone and then it did get a little busier (in all we probably ran into 20-25 people, mostly on mountain bikes.) By the time we got back to the parking lot it was packed.

Very well signed trail. A little muddy in spots on the day we chose to go, but other than that we enjoyed it.

Be mindful the map at the park says the trail is around 9.6 miles. A little longer, but still a nice hike. Lots of shade and mostly flat ground.

Great trail. Close to home and pretty easy. The whole loop is actually 9.6 miles if you stay on the designated "Southside Loop Trail". AllTrails tells you to right (if you're walking it clockwise) in the far right hand corner but the trail actually lead around to Foster Mill Road I believe. You will be on it for a very short portion but that had me thinking I was lost for a little while lol

This track adds some to the existing trail on Alltrails, We followed the trail markers carefully, the trail is very well marked with the exception of one the longer hills. There was a descent variety of trail, but nothing hard. We did catch a glimpse of a deer we startled as we hiked. A very short portion of the trail in on Foster Mill Circle (gravel road).

Nice trail, you have to share the trail with mountain bikers. It is very flat along the river and a little hilly on the ridge. Overall a great hike.

Great trail if you don't mind getting a little dirty. Not very busy, which I love!

Good trail, some information or history of cemetery would have been interesting.

Rugged terrain, floods BAD with heavy rains. I prefer more XC riding, this was just flat out rough at times. Not for me, but still a decent trail
