Relaxing_peaceful hike thru a beautiful forest; Oconee Bell viewing in spring This is a great trail for families and those who wish to see the 'rare' Oconee Bell. They have guided hikes around April to catch them in bloom. Otherwise great trail through hardwoods and by a lake to keep your attention/interest.
easy trail. nice change in different environments
Very easy. This trail is close to home for me.
easy trail. will be a lot of pretty blooms in the spring
Nice easy trial. A little over grown in areas for our small kids. Over all very nice and Joccasse is always beautiful.
Easy, peaceful hike. Just posted a couple of pictures of the oconee bells as that is why I went. Of course they only bloom for a very short time in late March. Other than that, (for March) there's not alot in bloom, and the trail is somewhat uneventful. However, the Park does a great job with marking the types of trees, and there is a beautiful cascading creek, and a couple of historical markers / pond along the way. I'd hike again in the fall.
Beautiful easy trail. We saw a lot of the unique Oconee Bell blooming along the creek. The trail has trees identification labels also.
This trail is absolutely wonderful if you specifically want to see the Oconee Bells in bloom. The small creek and waterfalls are tranquil as well. This is a nature trail (not a hike) and has explanatory placards regarding the vegetation. I enjoyed it very much!
Oconee bells blooming. Very nice.
I liked swimming in the clear lake surrounded by the mountains. The fish would come up and bite me though and the blowflies bit me out of the water too. You can swim at your own risk there without any restrictions. There are just two short trails there.
Great for little ones, not a hard hike. We went as a large family, little ones to grandparents! Beautiful Oconee Bells and a fabulous view of majestic Jocasee.
Devils fork state park can be a bit too domestic for those looking for a challenging hike or an escape from civilization. On the other hand the park is great for bringing along the kids and relaxing on the lakes shore. The facilities are top notch and very clean. All in all this is a great park and more adventurous trails are nearby.
