Musgrove Mill Horseshoe Falls Trail is a 1.7 mile moderately trafficked out and back trail located near Cross Anchor, South Carolina that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Parking fee is $3 per adult (16+) and $1 per child (6-15). This is a beautiful trail that begins with Horseshoe Falls. The trail continues to Musgrove Mill historic battlefield. Easy, very well maintained, and well marked. The trail has quite a few historical markers with information and facts about the site. It's fairly flat with a few small bridges and steps. The first 100 yards of the trail is paved with ADA-compliant access at a nice overlook of the falls. Accessibility: According to the park website, only the first 0.1 miles of this trail to the falls observation deck is ADA accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. That section is paved, typically at least four feet wide, and has an estimated gentle grade all under 5%. The end of the accessible trail has been marked on the map with a waypoint. Some equipment users (especially with all-terrain tires or motorized equipment) may be able to continue on the dirt trail past that. Or, just the most accessible trail can be viewed on its own trail page here: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/south-carolina/musgrove-hill-horseshoe-falls-trail-to-observation-deck

Really enjoyed this trail! There's a few roots to be careful of but overall nice trail with some undulation. With it being a battlefield, I was expecting it to open up in a wide field but it was mostly through the woods over beautiful terrain. The interpretive signs were really well done!
Nice hike. Several ups and downs, but nothing strenuous. Benches along the way to stop and take a rest if needed. wooden foot bridges across all water crossings. easy access to the falls. 2-3 places to access creeks or river to give doggos a little sip. very light traffic today between 10am and 12pm.
Easy trail for active people. The waterfall has more power to it than I would have thought. It is more like a big rapid on a whitewater river than a waterfall. The trail was nice with several signs giving the history behind the battle. There are several benches along the way. The only slight negative is the trail parallels a road at one point. so you get the car noise.
Well kept trial work with wonderful information about the battle.
Great historical signs detailing the Battle of Musgrove’s Mill.
It was fairly muddy from the recent rain. It can be a bit of a challenge if you aren’t used to steps but all in all, it wasn’t bad at all. We enjoyed ourselves and the history.
When it comes to historical trail giving the history of battles of the American revolution, I like this trail better than Gettysburg. Not overcrowded not in the middle of a bustling city and it doesn’t much better job of telling the tail oh that small moment in war better than the national Park. Spoiler alert if you see everything in black-and-white you may be a little bit shocked by the information given on some of the signs. The signage will necessarily succinct does it incredible job of encapsulating the moment and telling the whole story. I recommend this trail for anyone with children in school or just plain water buffs.
such a fun trail! the waterfall is gorgeous and the history of the battleground was fascinating.
Trail was a bit muddy from recent rains but was an enjoyable mix of rocks, roots, and Revolutionary War history! The trailhead is across the street from the parking lot.
Great short hike. If you enjoy hiking and history, this is the trail for you!
