Found wild edibles along the way. Path is loaded with sourwood, and tulip trees. We also found cinnabar chanterelle mushrooms.

Mostly shady trail in good condition. Went clockwise and found the first half of the trail by the creek and dam to be most enjoyable. Leisurely pace had me finishing at 2 hours.

Easy hike from parking lot to dam / spill way. At the gazebo, if you take the trail that appears to go up along the left hand side of the steps. The trail turns left and the remaining walk to the dam is a easy incline with fewer rocks to navigate.

Challenging first mile! Would be better if it had better look out spots along the trail.

I just love this trail! The most beautiful waterfalls all the ya up. I took the trail at the picnic shelter and looped around. It was very rocky, lots of roots and steep inclines in the beginning. After 2 miles it levels out and the rest is beautiful ridge-line. No bikes are allowed on the start of the route I took. I went clockwise they have to go counter. Highly recommend.

The trail is actually 4 miles, not 3.6 trail is marked well, no confusion as to which direction to go. Not much to see, not even any birds...quite boring actually. It cost $5.00 per person to get in the park...overpriced for what it is.

This was an awesome and challenging hike! Definitely agree that clockwise was the way to go. Be prepared to hike UP a lot in the beginning!

First to Review

Made a 5 mile + hike out of Mountain Creek and Lake Placid. Mountain Creek was part of our Trailblaze Challenge kickoff hike. Then we also added the Lake loop for some extra mileage. Good easy hikes.
