Description
Waypoints (1)

Such a cool experience walking literally straight through the swamp. Could use some additional trail markers in places. Very peaceful and serene, but eerie at the same time knowing gators are out there. The trail may be slippery, wet, and muddy, depending on recent and current weather conditions. Use caution and bring all necessary equipment. Accessibility: It is unclear if there are any designated accessible spaces in the unpaved parking lot off of Woods Bay Road at the start of the trail. There do not appear to be any designated accessible parking spaces within 1 mile of the start of the trail on the north end. The trail surface is a natural surface (dirt, grass) or a paved wooden boardwalk (with edge barriers) and typically at least 4 feet wide. The most accessible portion of the trail is the first half mile heading clockwise along the boardwalk. This section has its own trail page here: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/south-carolina/mill-pond-boardwalk The estimated grade is gentle (3% or less). All-terrain tires or motorized equipment may be needed for the unpaved and possibly uneven or soft areas. Navigating the unpaved portions after wet weather is not recommended.

Nice trail. Lots of roots. Part of trail flooded, so was re-routed on to road. Didn't do the boardwalk

The boardwalk was beautifully peaceful and unique. Sadly the trail was too flooded to walk without rubber high boots in late February.

Perfect place to stretch your legs on a long drive. Quick détour from 95, decent bathrooms, unique micro environments, very few people and gators!! Boardwalk was a little slippery, and take caution with dogs as gators are VERY close!

We saw a snake, alligators and birds. We love this short and easy trail. But definitely keep an eye out for the wildlife.

Beautiful sunny day! Boardwalk is very scenic - almost like you are walking on the water! Trail is easy enough but be sure to wear shoes that can get wet/muddy if you visit after a storm.

Enjoyed the boardwalk. It looks as if it will be extended at a later time when funds become available. The loop around the bay was pleasant and not too muddy despite recent rains. We met a yellow lab & black lab near the visitor center (which appears closed in winter) that were friendly and just wanted to play fetch.

Some down limbs and debris. It’s rained a lot, so there were some slick spots.

Short, easy hike. Was still open when we went. We did both trails and were the only hikers. Boardwalk is wood and kept well maintained; would like to see path longer as it abruptly ends.
