I’ve done both accesses for this trail. The one from the lake area is a great leg workout due to the steep descent and then ascent to get out. But the other access of SR 1058 is much easier and better for a family, dogs, etc. the turn off of hwy 107 is not easy to see so keep watch on your GPS or phone. Also the trail head was not marked but there were other cars parked on the road side. The access is near a orange metal fence just a couple hundred yards from the turn off 107. Decent trail conditions with some rocky/rooty areas. Expect water / mud as many of the trails around here will also have. The falls are really super and are my favorite around this area. Lots of space at the bottom to walk around, swim, dip feet in water, take pictures, etc. plus there are a few scenic off shoots along the way to enjoy. LOVE THIS TRAIL!

There are 2 ways to access these falls. One is off Shook rd which is a leisurely and pretty walk, about 4 miles or so. The other access is from Glenville lake rec area. This access is shorter but difficult and a great leg workout.

Loved this trail! The falls were gorgeous! Great for swimming and a picnic. There are all kinds of wildflowers and thimbleberries along the trail. Keep in mind there are lots of steep steps on the trail and it is a challenge. Hope to be back to bring my kayak to navigate the 4 and 5 class rapids (I'll have to figure out when they open the dam to raise the water level)

Great Hike with our 15, 10 an 2 year old. Not a lot of people on the trail for a Monday. It’s pretty much a downward descent to the bottom of the falls, with lots of steps! The trail was very well maintained and once at the bottom the falls were beautiful. The hike up was a little challenging with a 35lb child on my back, but overall it was well worth the journey. Great space for the kids to climb on the rocks and swim. Next time we will bring a lunch and enjoy in such a beautiful place.

This is a straight descent to the bottom of High Falls. We took the trailhead off of Pine Creek and it ended up being around a mile downhill and then back up. The lower quarter of the hike is mostly stone steps that can be slippery. It may be taxing to take a dog on this hike.

The base of the falls are spectacular and offer deep swimming holes in which one can dive and swim.

Beautiful hike with two major waterfalls. A good bit of navigating wet and rocky areas. A lot of rock and boulder climbing to get to High Falls at the end but worth it! Great pool at the base for swimming and picnicking in the rocks. Am going to take the other trail in next time!

It’s a really nice hike, but I wouldn’t call it moderate. Other than a couple spots with some incline, the hike is pretty relaxed. I was able to complete the hike with my 40lb ruck sack, take a 45 min play break around the falls, and still be done in under 2 hrs.
Also, there are a lot of families on the trails.

Short but moderate hike to some beautiful views. Highly recommend! Bring a bathing suit in the summer.
This is NOT near Salem, SC. It is near Lake Glenville, NC.

Very steep to falls and steep coming out. Gorgeous views! Traveled with two dogs, 7, 10 & 14 yr old hockey players. We were all exhausted!
