Foothills Trail - A9 to A11 is a 8.1 mile point-to-point trail located near Mountain Rest, South Carolina that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
Rolling Hills, Southern Forest, Waterfalls The main stem of this nearly 100 mile long hiking trail extends from Table Rock State Park in Pickens County, to Oconee State Park in Oconee County. The trail crosses some of the most rugged and beautiful terrain in the Southeast and provides access to Sassafrass Mountain, the highest peak in South Carolina, and to major mountain streams and breathtaking views. The section of trail from Sloan Bridge to Burrell's Ford Road is a wooded area that starts near the East Fork of the Chattooga River. The Trail then passes an impressive waterfall, ascends to SC 107 near the Walhalla Fish Hatchery, then drops to the Chattooga River Gorge area at Burrell's Ford Road where a walk-in campground is located near the river.

The Foothills Trail section between Sloan Bridge and the Fish Hatchery Rd. is fairly easy with some nice waterfalls and plenty of streams. The section between the Fish Hatchery Rd. and Burrell's Ford encompasses ridges and mountain tops and offers nice views when the trees are leafless. Starting at Burrell's Ford means a heart pumping climb up Medlin Mountain.
