Getting There

This a great little workout, a bit much for the toddlers but okay for the pre-teen crowd. The hike starts uphill and stays that way for a good while. There are some flat stretches mixed in and a couple of stream crossings. Being this short the hike reaches the falls before you're too tired to enjoy the falls and they are beautiful. You can cross at the base of the falls and hike up the trail on the other side for a great picnic spot. The cables at the base of the waterfall have been removed as of November 2020. There is limited parking so arrive early! The trail is do-able with dogs on leash, but may be difficult for some dogs.

Jones Gap State Park 836-3647 (between 11:00am - Noon

Head towards Jones Gap SP and turn right on Duckworth Rd. continue to Fall Creek Rd. Take a right and proceed past the Bible camp and over a little bridge. The trailhead is clearly visible ahead on the left.

We hiked this with our 5yr old and 15 yr old. My husband had to carry our 5yr old through many of the steep and uneven terrain. But it was totally worth it. We took our time, rested when needed and had lunch on rock. This was worth it! Beautiful falls, and beautiful scenes!

Greta trail with a beautiful view! It was definitely steep in some places and a little slippery with lots of rocks on the way up but it was great! Parking was tough with not a lot of space and the trail was actually about 2.66 miles. Harder hike but worth it for the view!

Well marked and easy to follow. There are a few well worn cut throughs that save little distance or time, but are terribly steep. Be sure to always follow the purple blazes and not just the apparent trail.

Fue increíble, las vistas y el camino es un poco difícil pero la recompensa al final con una cascada hermosa.

Great trail.. it gets a little tricky near the last .4 mile. When in doubt, head up. There is a small double purple marker and when followed, takes you back to the small creek crossing. The waterfall was well worth the challenges.

Awesome trail for our first SC hike. The waterfall was amazing and the fall colors were popping. Leaves were raining down on us as we hiked. Lots of scrambling in the washed out areas of the trail but doable. All of the fallen trees have been cleared.

Really pretty just above my skill level. The trail was pretty washed out from the rain.

Kind of washed out and rutted pretty good about 3/4 way in. Not too bad. Awesome falls. Only ones on trail. Perfect!

This is an amazing hike. Steep and short with a breathtaking waterfall at the end. It was running good after steady rains several days earlier. We met one only one other couple on the trail. We started late in the day. Love love loved it.

Steep trail to the falls but worth it. Passed many groups struggling on the way up, but some of them were ill prepared for the hike, wearing flip flops. The elevation gain definitely gets your heart pounding but the falls are beautiful and the trip back down is easy.

Great hike, but strenuous at times, not recommend for kids. Very lightly occupied, Only 3 parking spaces and have to fill out emergency contact card before the hike. The view of the falls was worth it!

Good workout going out. Pretty easy coming back except for the climb up from the falls. Beautiful falls, rocks are extremely slick so be cautious walking out in front of the falls.

Best waterfall in South Carolina! There are two falls and the hike is also a great workout! Parking only for about 6 cars so it is very quiet we only saw two groups of hikers in the 3 hours we spent! There is a small place to take a dip at the upper falls but it’s not very safe to get to, VERY cold water though.

This was a great short and fun hike! Only took an hour with a few minutes at the top. Was thinking it would be much harder than it was due to some reviews. It is steep so a good workout but nothing treacherous!

Hardest 2 miles of my life. Obviously above my skill level! Up hill out of the gate and it just gets harder. Some portions were like rock climbing. Waterfall was beautiful! Return was just a bit easier but still difficult. This hike isn't for anyone with weak knees, bad back, or bad hips. Took us 4 hours round trip including a 30 minute rest at the falls.
