This a great little workout, a bit much for the toddlers but okay for the pre teen crowd. The hike starts uphill and stays that way for a good while. There are some flat stretches mixed in and a couple stream crossings. Being this short the hike reaches the falls before your to tired to enjoy the falls and they are beautiful. You can cross at the base of the falls and hike up the trail on the other side for a great picnic spot. If the water is high when you go you can decide to climb up the cables to the upper part of the falls. A great workout with an awesome payoff. Enjoy, See you on the trail!

If you stick to the trail, this is a moderate but do-able hike. But, as mentioned, there are many places where the trail breaks off and if you lose the main trail following the river (like I did), it is EXTREMELY strenuous getting back. Stick to the main trail (purple tree markers) and you're in for a great hike. Challenging, but the payoff of reaching the falls is worth it.

Parts of this trail are pretty steep; need to use hands to get over bigger rocks. I would not recommend baby wearing or taking kids younger than 5 or 6 on this trail. The trail breaks off at several places, and sometimes it's hard to know which is the path (purple markings on trees). We took a detour to the base of the falls and it was narrow and steep, but beautiful. There are little pools of water at the falls for wading- a perfect spot for a rest and snack. Will do again for sure.

Hike was pretty strenuous uphill but well worth it. Make sure to see the views from both levels of the waterfall.

First of all, this is NOT a 'moderate' trail. The posted info at the trailhead even indicates it as "Very Strenuous" (I will post the picture); and it is. We are pretty seasoned hikers and for a quick out and back this one is a substantial leg and cardio workout, if you keep the solid pace that we do. iPhone indicated that we climbed 63 floors. The trail is beautiful and there are plenty of extra off shoots for later exploration, making this good for return visits. Also, I'd like to see it once the leaves begin to fall, as there were several potential vistas at a good elevation. The falls are beautiful and there are two cascades to view; upper and lower in the same vicinity.

My wife and I went on the trail just after a rain storm. Very well kept and marked trail. It took about 45 min up and about 25 min back, with a wet trail and an out of shape spouse (okay, It's me) A few spots at the top were more technical. We almost didn't go up the steep part at the waterfall, but I'm so glad we did. We can't wait to come back up with our kids to see this incredible falls. The bees another hiker mentioned were gone on our hike.

Fun hike! When we went, the lower falls were infested with bees, so be careful. Not a difficult hike, we went after work during the week and it was a very nice, quick hike. The waterfalls were tremendous!

Perfect quick morning hike with my dog. Doesn't take anywhere near 2 hours each way! Not sure what that's about. Great photo opportunity with the falls if you're willing to get your feet wet.

What a great adventure. We took our 7 kids ages 5-9. They are well experienced in the woods. The last .4 miles is very technical. The reward at the top is beautiful beyond description. We will do it again!

Hiked this in about 2 hours round trip including playing at the waterfall. Was difficult for most of the trek but worth it. Would do this again and allow extra time to explore more.
