Google maps sent us down Old 6 Mile Rd. to the end of this residential road. What appeared to be the trail head was wide enough for two cars on this so called gravel “trail”. We walked for 45 mins to nowhere. I don’t get it??? Everyone describes this as a great trail.

We hiked the chicken logging road section plus the loop at the lake shore. We hd a 3 yr old, 8 yr old and two 70+ with us. Everyone made it with a couple of short rest breaks so I would rate this as family friendly. The kids enjoyed looking for animal tracks in the mud and clay. A great afternoon!

Best trail we’ve been on in the Clemson Ex Forest. The perfect trail for a 4.5’ ish mile hike on a mostly overcast January day. Winter is the season for this trail as the lake access and views are terrific. Soft, pinestraw and crunchy leaf covered trails are throughout after a short rocky approach. Pleasant gentle rolling elevation changes. Comments about signage are true, however, nothing to fear if you simply stay generally aware. Please keep improving the signage on ALL of the CEF trails (whoever may be reading this!).

The trail is perfectly fine and a nice wooded hike. but other trails that are nearby spend more time on the lake, so I'm not sure I'd go back to this one

Not for kids!.... Good challenge with plenty of uneven walking. Not much to see, sadly a boring trail. Creek was dry but it is July in the South. Take plenty of water! Probably a better biking trail honestly.

Quite a few lake views. The trail didn't match up with the app very well and the trail isn't marked very well, so use caution. Saw a deer and a black snake.

great trail, in a couple of places it can be hard to figure out where to go but someone has laid down small trees and branches to direct you. if you follow those you'll be fine!

The views of the lake are very nice from this hike. It isn’t too well marked (a few orange blazes here and there) so it was necessary to use the trail map on the app. Overall, a nice way to spend a few hours.

Great quick hike. No blazes and missed a turn off due to trails that weren't obvious. Took us a bit to get on the right track. Beautiful easy hike for a quick hike in Clemson.

This trail is easy to moderate which is exactly what I was looking for. The trail is unmarked which presents some problems. In a couple of places, the trail runs on a dirt road but then veers off onto a nearly invisible trail. I had to backtrack a couple of times after I saw on the App that I had missed the turnoff. Don't expect to hike this trail as mapped unless you have the App with you. Overall, a nice hike with some good views of the lake.

This was a great little hike. Lots of gentle slopes to give you a decent workout. Part of the trail follows lake Hartwell for a bit. This is by far my new favorite hike in the Experimental Forest.
