7/13/10 - Neat little walk to a beach unlike any we’ve encountered. Wake up early for sunrise (check the tide chart for LOW timing) and avoid the heat and swath of other people. The gate opens around 30 minutes before sunrise. Lots of annoying gnats, but nothing that felt too oppressive. A portion of the beach trail is closed for bird sanctuary.

beutiful wise trail that traverses marshland and cuts through a small hammock island before reaching the unique Botany Bay Beach. The beach is littered with dead trees creating a one of a kind sight. Make sure to choose a shady day to make the hike.

OK here’s an honest review for you out of towners, this place was free to get into which is nice, the roadway getting out there is very muddy so keep in mind although I made it in a Chevy Malibu car. They have a very strict policy on keeping shells and artifacts on the beach and there is a hefty fine if you are caught taking any shells. They even had beach staff volunteers there however, if you want to take a few because who doesn’t want a great souvenir, and trust me, the beach can afford them. I’ve never seen more shells in my entire life on any beach. I will suggest wearing a baggy sweatshirt or bringing a small book bag if you want to take a few shells. Overall really awesome place if you want to feel secluded and I highly suggest going at low tide and seeing all the shells.

The beach on Botony Bay is GORGEOUS!!!!! Coolest place I've been in awhile. All the driftwood and sea shells make this a really magical place. We went during high tide so couldn't explore as much as we would have liked to. Tide will come all the way up to where the trees start and cover the entire beach. I'd recommend checking the tide chart first. High Tide is still beautiful though. I would like to go back sometime during low tide.

No dogs on a leash, which was a bummer. The weather was nice and cool so we left windows down and kept our dog in the truck. It was a small walk to the beach. It was very beautiful but we didn't stay long.

Beautiful place but they do NOT allow dogs on a leash and we drove all the way out there to find out. Luckily, we could do the driving tour with the dog in the car.

Easy quick walk on sand and gravel road bed. Beautiful scenery but need to plan according to tides because at high tides the beach is impassible!!! Love the views and the picture opportunities!!!

Have been multiple times and enjoy the driftwood beach very much. Busy on weekends and not much room to move around when the tide is high. Beautiful place for photography lovers. Easy walk for those with little ones.

In the Botany Bay WMA. Beautiful area. Hike to the beach is flat and easy. The beach with the dead trees is incredible. Must do.
