Just got seriously lost doing this hike. Ended up walking around neighborhoods for over an hour trying to figure out how to get back to where I started. My bad for not bringing a phone ir a map but still the markings are bad. There are many entry and exit points here but its not clear where they take you. Wouldve been a nice hike if I didnt get so lost. Will try again with a map next time.

Needed the maps- not great markings for this trail specifically. Overall super fun and not very busy. Nice little water/creek area to stop with kids/dogs. Dog friendly.

Great trail but really confusing. Had to keep pulling up app map to get back. My loop was 5 miles instead of 3.5. Oops.

This was a great trail! hidden right outside a neighborhood. easy hike, some spots a little difficult to cross the river due to flooding so prepare to get a little muddy and wet. enjoy!

Terrible trail markings. Definitely needed the AllTrails map.

This is a great trail in the middle of Baxter, however, there are many streams that must be hopped over so be prepared to possible get wet! It’s muddy, but worth the mud and water.

Visited Baxter Trail while in Fort Mill SC on an overcast morning and got a nice hike in. Trails are not as well kept as they could be, but a nice trek for a weekend walk. Part of the Carolina Thread Trail and mostly used by the locals in Baxter Village. Trail head is on the corner of First Baxter and Springmaid Ave., just across from the Fort Mill Library and local Police Station. Pay attention on the trail as the markings are somewhat confusing. Your trek will cross several public roads and trace Duke Energy’s power lines ... so if you get lost, just follow Duke. Room for bikes but not so much so be mindful. Depending of which trek you stay on, the trail will take you to the Catawba river. Ok trail but a little work needs to be done to make it more user friendly.

Trail is pretty, but very difficult to follow. No Trail Blazers that made a lot of sense. Dog friendly.

Good trail... most definitely needed the map to navigate due to a lot of forks.. but ultimately a nice casual trail.. (if it rains within 1-2 days prior, definitely expect some muddy trails!)

Paths weren’t very clear. Definitely needed the map most of the time. It’s a fun one though

Nice little piece of wilderness close to Charlotte. Clean, lots of woods, and it was quiet. The other reviewers are right about the trails, they are VERY hard to navigate and we depended heavily on AllTrails. There is also a dark tunnel that goes under Sutton st and the lights have been bashed out and there’s some graffiti, it’s not super dangerous or dirty but still creepy. If you aren’t comfortable then take the trail that goes to the top of Sutton st and just cross the street (no crosswalk though). Otherwise, we had a really great hike and really enjoyed it. Not sure if we’ll be back, but I would still recommend checking it out if you’re interested.

3 miles one way to river. Pretty good for something close during the week. Good view once you get to the river. You know you’re still in the city for a large portion. But at a few points you get that real nature vibe.

Decent trail with potential. Don't go when it recently rained, very wet and muddy. Also be sure to have the map on hand, it is very confusing and veers off in many directions. Was a bit overgrown in a few areas where I wasn't sure if I was still on the trail.

My dog and I definitely enjoyed it, and she was worn out after. So a positive for that. My only issue is that unless you’re paying good attention to the map, you can easily stray off onto another trail - which we did twice. Otherwise great scenery, mostly shaded in the woods, and it’s within a very nice neighborhood.
