A friend and I did this trail today for the first time. We thought it was amazing. This is the time to go; lots of wildflowers and lots of butterflies! They surrounded us and we felt like we were in one of those butterfly houses. We heard kingfishers but didn’t see a lot of birds. Looking out at the water and Whale Rock was great also.

Could use better signage on Boston Neck Road. A little overgrown. Trail opened up at chainlink/barbed wire border of Camp Varnum. Closest trail to view Whale Rock.

Fun and easy hike! The beginning half is through the woods, mostly on wooden planks. The latter is up above the rocky beach as you flank a military base. Lots of flowers and birds and a fair bit of mud if it's rained recently. Perfect for dogs, adults, and children who are pretty sure-footed.

Not long but extremely charming. I’m a big fan of boardwalks and you can’t beat the ocean access. Excellent view of whale rock and Beavertail Light. The wooded section is a fabulous place to bird watch.

Not much of a “hike” but it’s a short little trail that leads to a gorgeous ocean spot !

Easy trail and a very peaceful place to spend some down time. We went on a Sunday afternoon and spent a couple of hours exploring. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was.

Great trail leading down to the ocean-mostly shaded and along the barracks of camp varnum. Especially nice at low tide-could bring a book and find a rock and take in the sounds.

Great hike for kids. Enjoy the greenery for the first part of the hike and then the beautiful ocean views for the second. The kids loved exploring the tide pools and checking out all of the different rocks and shells on the beach.
