Shelter Trail to Penny Hill Cutoff Trail Loop is a 6.5 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Saunderstown, Rhode Island that features a river and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

September 12, 2020This is a fairly easy hike albeit a fairly long one at 7.5 mi with much of the trail covered in soft pine needles, good change of scenery though the length of the hike. Fyi, the trailhead is across the road from the parking lot.

May 22, 2020May 17, 2020Great hike! Was for the most part void of people during the hike even for a warm and sunny Saturday! Really easy to follow trail. However, first half didn't quite match up with All Trails so I kept getting off trail notifications but no big deal. The camp is really the highlight. Definitely cool. Was a really easy hike, but mileage is off. We clocked in at at 7.5.
May 11, 2020Great for a lengthy stroll, not too challenging but long enough to get some miles in. The old camp is pretty cool to check out. Reminds you of something out of a horror movie (in a fun way).

March 26, 2017You really have to pay attention to the trail markings as there is many ways you could go. Not a bad day hike took about 2 hours without stopping for long at the old shelters.
