Just 10 minutes from downtown Providence, this forested trail provides scenic views of the former town reservoir. The Lime Rock Preserve is unique for its variety of habitats including woodlands, streams, open water and calcareous ledges. The Moshassuck River and the Manton Reservoir are both highlights along the trail. The 130 acre Preserve is an excellent place to watch the seasons change, take in the views of the pond, look for birds like migrant warblers, or look for animal tracks in the snow. Ledges of dolomitic marble produce a special calcareous soil that nurtures 30 rare plant species - more than any other site in Rhode Island. Beautiful ferns and wildflowers grow along ridges of recrystallized limestone. An abandoned electric rail-bed on western edge of the property provides scenic views of the former town reservoir.

Nice trail very well marked. I did yellow to blue 2.2 mile in 60 minutes. If it has rained or is very well mud can be slippery

Easy fun little trail around a pond and dam. Well marked and very hard to lose your way. Good for dog walking. I did all paths in about an hour on an unseasonably warm day in January. It’s a nice, but not very remote space as there are houses lining parts of the yellow trail. Worth visiting.

I love this hike alone. Very well marked. Very easy. A couple very nice places to sit. I like simple hikes when I’m without a buddy

The yellow path was cleared and marked well. My 4 and 2 year old were able to keep up and we all enjoyed the views of the pond area.

Beautiful day on a beautiful trail. my toddler enjoyed it thoroughly. Other than a few people we were accompanied by the wind, birds and the sound of our footsteps. However the app stopped recording half way, and shows only part of the trail as recorded.

One of my favorite trails....easy and flat for a quick hike. Can be very buggy. The pond is lovely. If you want a few hills, follow the blue trail.

Im not sure why the description says no dog, the locals bring their dogs here often and are very good about cleaning up afterwards. This is one of my all time favorite local spots, the views are beautiful and its an easy going hike to get back into it after the long winter. There's also a lot of great photography opportunities here for those looking to do some macro photography, lots of fun fungi and plant life here if you know where to look!

Nice short hike here today. Trail was a little muddy and a little icy but not too bad. This was our first time on this trail. Ran into some lovely people and cute trail dogs. Perfect for a “get back into shape” hike.

Nice, well marked, pretty. You do see a lot of backyards through the trees, but it's still nice. Even icy and a little muddy, it was an easy hike.

Nice, nearby escape from the city. I take my dog here for occasional morning walks around the largest loop -- pretty woods and a nice mellow walk that's never very busy.
