Deep Pond Trail is a 2.5 mile moderately trafficked point-to-point trail located near Exeter, Rhode Island that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Deep Pond Trail connects Tippecansett Trail with Deep Pond at two points. This track connects hikers from the northern section of the Tippecansett Trail. (There's a Deep Pond Trail West Branch that connects the southern section of the Tippecansett to Deep Pond at the southern end of Beach Pond.)
I enjoyed the hike especially once it became an actual trail and not a road. After reaching Deep Pond I did the little Dye Hill loop for a little extra. This brought you past some really cool rocks. It was a nice, quick hike.
Nice little trail out to Deep Pond. Lined with mountain laurel, might be nice to do again in the spring when it’s in bloom.
Not bad! Hike itself isn’t filled with the most scenery, but the pond at the end makes it worth it! Very quiet , watched deer eat the leaves from across the pond and some turtles swimming close by.
I started at one of the trailheads for lower Beach Pond (on Rte 165) so I could do a loop of sorts. Regarding Deep Pond Trail, the first half going south from Rte 165 is a wide track, a road really, and while pretty is not the most interesting in terms of hiking terrain. After the junction with the Tippecansett trail that goes to lower Beach Pond, the Deep Pond trail becomes narrower, more interesting, and more beautiful. The trail was more scenic and interesting than I expected, and Deep Pond is a lovely jewel at the end. The only downside of the route I took is that the last 4/10ths of a mile were along Rte 165 to get to my car.
