While Burlingame's Gormley Trail gets most of the press, don't forget that Burlingame North has trails, too!

For this hike, I started at the Town of Charlestown's Schoolhouse Pond Preserve. The Schoolhouse Pond Trail picks up across the street from the Preserve parking lot, and takes you to one of the best sections of the Gormley Trail. From the Gormley Trail, you can pick up the North-South Trail, which takes you directly to the Burlingame North Parking lot. From there, you can take a loop out to the Pawcatuck River. All told, this gives you a lollipop of almost ten miles.

Awesome race in the fall, the Lil Rhody Runaround, which is an 8 mile trail race around the lake there. Pretty tough for the area, with roots, rocks, small bridge crossings over marshy ground, etc. Make sure to check out the race if you're in the area and up for a challenge! :-)
