Buck Hill Trail is a 6.9 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Pascoag, Rhode Island that features a lake and is rated as moderate. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Lots of trail options and thick woods with pretty leaves changing. Not a lot of wildlife or elevation but very serene and quiet.
Pros: the north south part of the trail is really fun-rocky, great hills, quiet Cons: trails are mostly unmarked though clear, few fallen trees. Mile and a half in AND out is just gravel!
The start is wide and open. Getting to the state borders was an up hill adventure. There is no view, but teases through the trees. We took a path off star road to quickly make our way out as it was getting late. That path was straight forward but rocky, which is hard on your feet. 6.3 miles making our own way back. I would also like to add about the entire time we could hear the Thompson race track over in Conn. That is how loud they are on a Sunday.
a little overgrown but better than being flooded like in the spring.
Knee level brush for 60% chest level brush 10%. Aside from that great hike though do not expect to be able to go swimming (unless you are a dog).
A bit overgrown on the path leading to the loop. At the register, there is a beehive nearby, so be careful. I want to say it’s at the base of the 2 trees there. The parking is just on the side of the road. Very well marked. Also, a stamp at the corner where MA, CT and RI meet had been defaced but I found another.
Nice trail system although the trails are not marked they are easy to follow. Some areas are rocky and the last 500 feet to the tri state market is steep.
This was an excellent trail. It was very out-of-the-way and secluded so I gave a great opportunity to be by myself and pray. There’s a great spot to stop by Buck Hill Pond. The western end of the loop is a bit easier but buggier. The eastern end of the loop is a beautiful treck through some windy woody paths.
