The trail starts with a trailhead that leads to a steep 141 step staircase offering views of the bluffs and the ocean. At the end of the staircase, the trail becomes rocky and requires the use of a rope and hand coordination to scale the downward slope that leads to the beach below. Once the beach is reached, there are large waves that extend far out onto the rocky beach. The trail will soon lead to a rocky upward slope that requires scaling without a rope or fall protection until a fenced viewpoint is reached. Once the fenced viewpoint is reached, there are more views of the bluffs, beaches, and ocean. The trail will then smoothen and become bordered with wild plants and flowers. The trail ends at the Pilot Hill Rd parking lot.
