Great trail. A little wet in December, but we caught a beautiful day. We parked in the boat parking lot a little west of the trail head address provided here.
This was a great trail overall except for running into private property when I tried checking out the trails farther to the east to extend my hike and also where you take a dirt road that leads to lake cottages. I turned back both times instead of trespassing as there was private property signage.
Overall, it’s a nice hike. Some areas were flooded and difficult to avoid wet feet without going off trail. Towards the end the map showed taking a service road which turned out to be a private road down to a house where it appeared to turn off through some brush. To avoid Apollo running through poison ivy I just back tracked to the blue and yellow blazes. Due to this and missing a turn off the yellow trail the hike ended up being 3 miles. I definitely want to explore some different routes in this area
Gorgeous day for a hike today. Loved this trail! Lots of great spots to stop and look out at the lake. Took about an hour and a half, but we stopped quite a few times to take pictures. A perfect quick hike. A little muddy in a few spots, and at some points it was hard to follow the trail - some of the trail markers were hard to find. There is also a mailbox nestled in the woods towards the halfway point of the loop. Mailbox has "Register Here" written on the side - complete with a notebook inside, filled with notes from hikers who had passed through! I loved stumbling across that. Overall a wonderful hike! Definitely going to do this one more often.
