If you are visiting El Yunque and would like to take a swim, take the Angelito Trail to the Las Damas pool in the Mameyes River. At the end of the trail is an 8 foot deep pool of clear water with a rope swing. This is a popular swimming spot especially during summer weekends and holidays. Beware of flash floods during heavy rain storms.

This is not a hike but an easy walk except for the 5 ft of rock scramble due to closed bridge section. We get there early to avoid cruise ship traffic and local family picnics but our dog swims and the rope swing is great if you go as high as possible before swinging to give you a huge arc and avoid the rocks. You can sit in natural rapids for a jacuzzi and water is perfect temp as long as you just jump in.

Short and sweet. Waterhole at the end.

Short but pretty. Lots of small animals (lizards, birds, snails). The second half was closed due to floods washing out the bridge and swimming was not recommended because of flash flooding.

The hike is not difficult at all. If you're looking for a relaxing walk and cooling swim, this trail is perfect. There are many places to explore at the end of the trail, and there is a deep pool to swim in.
