Crushed limestone surfaced rail-trail along the Youghiogheny River. (4 miles) Typical rail-trail conversion with an even and level surface of crushed limestone. Just north of the West Newton is a rebuilt replica of the rail station that once stood here and a combination rail car (combination of passenger and baggage) built in 1925. This will become the new headquarters of the Regional Trail Council. This section of trail features two sets of mile markers. The original P&LE markers measuring rail miles to Pittsburgh and the new plastic Great Allegheny Passage merkers for trail miles to Cumberland.

I ride this a lot especially when I’m training for a long distance ride. It’s great for getting a quick 8 mile ride in. I love the fact that I live close by and can get here in under 15 min.
