The trailhead at Layton (mile 45.4) is accessed by following Layton Rd. out of Perryopolis and turning right just before the tunnel. The lot is just to the left at the bottom of the hill (lat: N40 5.323 lon: W79 43.766). The trailhead at Dawson is accessed by exiting Rt. 51 onto Rt. 201 East. or leaving Connellsville on Rt. 201 West and turning North onto Rt. 819 in Vanderbilt (lat: N402.717 lon: W79 39.722).

DO NOT GO HERE ARE CAR WAS KEYED ALL THE WAY DOWN ONE SIDE. Has to be around 800-1,000$ worth of damage! We parked at the Layton trail right across from hazel baker. The ride was flat and there was place to camp on the way to Dawson. There was not a clear path to take you to the nice sandy beaches on on the yough river. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS TRAIL DUE MOST LIKELY LOCAL ASSHOLES WHO WILL KEY YOUR CAR.

Great overnight camping trip with my oldest son and his friend from West Milton to Ohio Pyle on Yough River in '99. I believe we tent camped at Round Bottom -- a great experience for two 12 year old kids and a crazy dad. The only reason I rate it less than a 4 or 5 was that overall "numb" feeling. They were pretty well spent by the time they hit Ohiopyle in the "rain."
