Cool loop for a quick and local hike. There are some slippery spots with wet leaves/mud and a couple of trees to hop over along the way.. I’m not sure it would even be worth mentioning if I hadn’t had a baby on my back for the hike. It was totally manageable. We did find walking across the bridge at Bells Mill a little sketchy, there’s no shoulder at all so you’re literally walking right next to traffic.

I took my mom on this trail because it was classified as easy. Although the trail was good, I don’t think this was easy, especially for people that don’t normally hike.

It was a good hike. There were several trees down but the paths were clear.

Very cute fun trail. Lots of little waterfalls and a covered bridge. Yellow trail has caution tape up, as others have mentioned you can cut this part out by going on forbidden drive for a bit. I missed the turnoff for lavender at the end and continued on orange instead which was fine. 2.5 miles

Very easy trail, and not difficult with groups for all ages. I would like to mention that if you plan on getting in the water, I would think twice. The ranger at the top of the parking lot said that the water is mixed in with sewer water. Kinda nasty. Also, do keep in mind the parking lot gets full VERY quick and you have to park in some neighboring streets.

Great trail following a creek to the Wissahickon. The red covered bridge is beautiful. The water was raging today because of the tropical storm that came through with lots of flooding. Like others have said we skipped the yellow trail across the bridge and just walked on Forbidden Drive to make it easier for the kids. This knocked off some elevation and mileage to make it more manageable.

This was a beautiful hike! 3.0 miles though was a little tough on my 15yo golden. If you are going with young kids or old dogs I would skip the yellow trail and make the loop back on forbidden drive. Really everything you could ask for in a city hike: water, waterfalls (small), covered bridge, great forest, some elevation which adds a little challenge. I had a great time - bring bug spray.

Some good and some bad. The good: some really nice thick forest, and we liked the end of the hike along the stream. Great spot to play in the creek on the less busy side (opposite from Forbidden Drive). The bad: the trail feels a bit used and abused. Lots of broken glass and trash. Quite a few people, especially near the creek. If you’re with small kids, recommend skipping the part on the Yellow Trail and just walk along forbidden drive to the covered bridge. The Yellow Trail was nice enough but is a steep up and downhill.

Lots of off leash dogs, not super secluded. Alright if you just want to get a little exercise.

Did this trail last summer, 2018, loved the bridges. Nothing too special on this trail.

Nice mix of easy and hilly terrain. Lots of shade and pretty views of the river and a small waterfall. Plus, who doesn't love a covered bridge? I'm a novice hiker and found this trail quite manageable.
