Wintergreen Gorge Trail is a 2.3 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Harborcreek, Pennsylvania that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, trail running, and nature trips. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
I hike this trail every couple month with friends, as we all live in the area. We have started up in the Penn State Behrend Parking lot and also on Cooper Road. We make this a 2 hour hike either way if you cover the expanse from the parking lot on Cooper Road and travel up the steep hill past the college and curve over to the maintenance shop for the university and then back in a loop. The favorite spot is high up on a narrow ridge where 4 mile creek bends around and you can see the creek from either side of the ridge.
It’s a fun time to go off-trail. Going up and down the inclines is a good workout.
Fun trail!! It’s worth the side trip to the creek side trails and small waterfalls.
Serene, crisp, quiet, quite colorful, beautiful views, crystal clear water!!!!!
Beautiful!! I love this trail because there are so many options. The water is crystal clear and my dogs love it! Also not many people out there
Better if you don't stay on the trail. The actual trail starting from the parking area is not much more than a gravel path. Easy to walk on but not real interesting either. The path that parallels the creek is more interesting and a little more challenging.
One of the best publicly available trails in Erie county area easily. Starting at the college parking lot and heading south gives some beautiful views. It could be dangerous if you don't respect the steep sides of the ravine. Only wish it was a longer trail.
love it here! stopped towards the end of the day so only had an hour before dusk, but worth spending a few hours in. the wooded areas are just as beautiful as the gorge. great for kids.
Cute, lovely in the woods. Creek is nice. Not the view I expected at the top but nice.
My wife and I completed this today and we couldn't have asked for better weather. the small waterfall is about a half mile into the trail on the right hand side. It was beautiful and you can walk down into the creek bed which makes for a nice change of pace. The overlooks at the end of the trail are beautiful as well, just remember to vere to the right at the end to walk over to the power line overlook.
