This trail is NOT easy, but the view from flat rock is well worth it. Whatever you do I highly advice AGAINST following the loop trail after reaching flat rock. It’s extremely overgrown (probably riddled with ticks and poison ivy/oak) and there are trees down everywhere. It also gets confusing with all these other trails intersecting it. The smartest idea is to go back down the way you came up, because that part of the trail actually seems to be taken care of. Would of given this trail five stars if it were an out and back trail or if the second half of the loop was actually taken care of.

Not Easy! Moderate is more like it. 1600' of gain in 2.5 miles. A lot of which is loose rocks. Great trail overall well marked and easily followed with wide paths. Views from Flat Rock were amazing even on a hazy August day!
