Camping is not allowed on this section of the trail through Swatara State Park, but I believe there is a one night exception for AT thru hikers. Amazing park so if you would like to camp there are a few AT campsites not too far out if the park. There is an overnight AT parking lot at 443 and 72 that cars need to be parked at. You then follow the Trout Run trail to the other side of the Swatara Creek and then you follow the AT blazes. After you pass under interstate 81 you can find a selection of campsites as you climb the east monutian of the gap. There is also only one bathroom in this park and it is a dual vault toilet at the Trout Run trail head.

This is not a paved trail (someone posted pic above that indicated a paved path). Decent walk, but have good trail/hike footwear. Kid and dogs OK, as long as they're used to it.
