Please note: The trailhead is actually about 100 or so yards down the road. Be aware you are hiking on hunting grounds, so wearing bright colors is recommended. Beautiful views, and a well maintained trail. Wear proper protection for your toes, very steep and rocky at times.

I’ve done the Pinnacle hike via the Appalachian Trail from the bottom of the hill from Hawk Mountain Sanctuary a few times and recently went on may 20th 2020. The first .7 mile is rocky winding thru the woods . From there it’s open dirt and gravel road pretty much till u get to the last .5 mile and then it’s rocky trails till u get to the Pinnacle. Thr 4 or 5 places to camp along the way up. The hike was 10.8 miles from start to finish and the views from the Pinnacle r fantastic. Beautiful views from every direction and worth the hike up . You can make good time truckin down the mountain. Bring some food to eat and relax on the rocks and enjoy the scenery. Go to bottom of Hawk my sanctuary on ur right is trailhead.. .. no police or guards !

My friend and I were super excited about this trail until we got there....we did not know that we needed to wear orange because you are hiking on gaming grounds. Super scary to think we could get shot on a hike. Also, there were signs for private property. There was no clear entrance to the hike. At least that we could see.

Great hike and views at the top are the reward for walking uphill 5 miles most of the time to get to the Pinnacle. Thank God going back down is almost all downhill or flat. Not a ton to see off the trail but the view at the top will take your breath away. Supposedly, there is a cave at the top you can explore but we didn’t. I would do this trail again, but do need some time to let my body heal.

Wide trail, perfect for social distancing. There is only an incline the first 2 miles and the rest is fairly easy. A little rocky and muddy towards the end. Sweet view at the top. Saw a good number of families with younger kids completing the trail.

This is a long one. I tracked it on my Garmin watch and came in at 10.75mi. 5.3ish miles each way. Mostly uphill going out then down hill coming back. Some muddy patches but the trail is much wider than what I’m used too. Not hard to practice social distancing on this one. Great for dogs and older kids who have the endurance. The view at the top is well worth the hike.

This was a great trail it was a good workout not too difficult much would you got past the first couple of miles the way back was mostly all downhill the view at the top was absolutely stunning well worth the work we did this during the coronavirus and were able to socially distance from those coming back down the trail which weren’t very many

Snowy! Trailhead is south of the alltrails map location, look for the small sign with the keystone logo that says “parking”

The trailhead is actually about 100 or so yards down the road from the GPS provided coordinates. The provided coordinates lead to a private home. The parking lot is small but flat. Get there early. The trail is shaded but incredibly rocky. Wear good shoes. The money shot comes at the very end when you reach the peak. However, during busy season the peak is probably really crowded and people have no qualms about picnicking up there taking up space so latecomers have to navigate around the people already there to see the views. Good hike though in terms of exertion.
