Stillwater Natural Area, Big Bear Swamp Panther Lake Hiked around Panther Lake on a side trail through the northern part of the Stillwater Natural Area. There are many deer and turkeys and pheasants. The area can be incredibly buggy however, and flat. The Thunder Swamp Trail enters the southern part of the Stillwater Natural Area and follows around Big Bear Swamp, which is muddy, buggy but often filled with beautiful wildflowers. Eventually you get to Coon Swamp Road and around Panther Swamp. Another side trail leads you back along the other shore of Panther Lake to the trailhead.
