Beautiful hike at Hickory Run State Park. This is part of a series of trails you can walk for hours. Got to the Skyline from Gould trail which is where the directions took us to. Just follow Gould and it will take you to Skyline. Definitely going back to explore more of the trails there.
Nice hike for the whole family (7-70 yo).
It was okay. There were beautiful spots but overall not extremely exciting.
There are a whole bunch of trails intersecting on this side of Hickory Run State Park. From the parking areas it's typical woodsey surroundings. Some of the trials are wide before getting to the steep parts. The Skyline and Fairline Trails go pretty much hand in hand. There are a few places where you go into tree cover, but the majority is open when you are on the side of the mountain overlooking the valley. There are some steep rocky sections too. Overall I would call this a medium to hard trail because of the climbs, but it's not a long trail. The views were pretty spectacular.
Parked on the fireline trail and picked up the skyline trail from there. Great views of the Lehigh in the early spring. Also picked up the fireline again at the end and went for a detour on it down to the railroad tracks. Interesting trail, scenery changes quite a bit. Not too many stretches with a lull in them.
