Very pretty and stroller friendly trail. It's long but it's easy so it's great for small children to do sections of it.

This is not a hard trail, and its really not a loop either. Although it was a beautiful well kept place, it was a let down, expecting a good challenge and finding only another rails to trails.

Not a hard trail at all! I'm overweight with a blown out knee and I easily made this trail round trip. Well shaded, up hill climb is nice and cold from the creek bed....

The turning point of the loop is a private owned area now with cameras, and we lost the path after that. It was a great hike leading up to that though, and we enjoyed the beautiful waterfall that was a little off the trail.

started at Rock Furnace. Really great views along the run and actually tried my best to stick closer to it than the paved/gravel trail. phone died half way through so only made it 2miles in, but there are markers to let you know how far you've gone, foot bridges, and distinctively marked trails that veer off from time to time. will definitely come back. My dog loved it, but a saw a few others with dogs on a weekday, so keep dog safe on a leash.

I walk my dog here on a regular basis. Great trail. Only complaint is that there are no trash cans so dog waste must be carried out with you.

Really nice user-friendly multi-modal trail system, close to Pittsburgh. Follow the blue blazes for some good hillside hiking, or just follow the gravel trail along the river for a nice walk in the woods. Very well set-up for biking also. Best part is the proximity to Pittsburgh, and easy to find with plenty of parking in the main lot.

This was a great hike, I highly recommend doing the alternate trails, also marked as the mountain biking trail. The views are great and there's some solid terrain to move through. When going on the alternate trail, there's a good amount of uphill.

I have ran, hiked and biked the Roaring Run Trail on the main trails and mountain biking/hiking trails countless times This trail has greatly improved over the last 15 years. The newer access point near Edmond, PA is excellent. The only downside to the mountain/hiking trail is the large section of eroding landscape on the top area of the mountain biking/hiking trail. It has been has been blocked off. You can go around it, but you might wander into private property. Recently you can no longer access Jackson Falls due to NO TRESPASSING (which is technically considered off the trail) due to the gas company. Even if you request permission, they will deny it no matter the reason. I live an hour away and it is still worth the drive!

Once off the Roaring Run Trail and onto the Rock Furnace Trail it's mostly uphill with some areas easier than others. Follow the creek to the waterfall and cross a small bridge. Many land marks and interesting sights. The majority of the trail is wide and clear for the first mile or so.

The main trail is a flat wide bike path not fun for hiking but it's by the beautiful river, the mtn biking / hiking trails are the best maintained trails I've hiked and over beautiful views of the river, and small seconds of creek along the way. I've found various birds, snakes, mushrooms, deer, snails, and rodents along the trail however I've seen black bear on the roads behind it so keep a watch.

Good trail to test gear. Main trail is nice. Side trails that are mainly for bikes are hard to follow. Great views of water.

Pretty good trail. The Lower section is really easy and relatively flat and scenic. The Upper section is more challenging, but difficult to follow. I got turned around and didn't follow the exact route indicated on this site. There were also a lot of knotweed plants on this trail.

Back part of trail is now posted off so you can't hike it back to the starting point. Have to turn around and come back along the river.

Great hike, very peaceful. Saw several deer, and the scenery is great. Going to make this a regular weekly hike.
