Rimrock Overlook Trail is a 2.6 mile out and back trail located near Mead Twp, Pennsylvania. The trail is good for all skill levels and primarily used for hiking.
Gorgeous views of the river from the mountain top. Fun for climbing around on big rocks and relaxing and enjoying the view. A walk down to the river (and then back up, of course) will provide a decent little workout.
Here is a wonder everyone should visit at least once.
Stunningly huge boulders left at the top of high hills by glaciers a million years ago. Superbly maintained trail and overlook; there is a lovely symmetry between humans and nature at the overlook site.
There is a 1.3 mile trail from the overlook to the bottom of the hill and beach. The hike is easy and would be great for kids. Be aware, however, you walk about a mile down, which means the kids would have to also walk about a mile back up.
Lots of motor boat noise from the reservoir makes its way to the trail, which blocks out nearly all the sounds from the forest. Still, a great little walk in the woods.
The overlook, however, is awe-inspiring. Just incredible.
The trail itself is nothing special the overlook on the other hand... Very well done. This natural wonder has the coolest, narrowest natural staircase built right into it. Plenty of room for all onlookers as it is moderately trafficked. Very well maintained. Be aware that the hike can be significantly longer than a quarter mile if you park down at the bottom of the hill.
