17 Amazing waterfalls along a steep but well-maintained trail Have good footwear for this one...It's often wet and slippery even though the trail is maintained in excellent condition. This hike is a simple loop that takes you past most of the falls in Ricketts Glen State Park. You can do this loop when camping at the park because it's an easy walk to the trailhead (about a mile each way from most of the campsites). Start at the sign and follow the trail. Turn right when the trail splits and follow the signs to the Falls Trail. You'll shortly see your first waterfall. There is a bridge at "Waters Meet" that you need to cross where the two streams merge - although it's not the halfway point, it is where you'll start heading uphill instead of downhill. Follow the trail up and, if you'd like, you can take the shortcut to the Highland Trail when you see the sign. The Highland Trail will take you back, after passing through the "Midway Crevasse", to the Lake Rose parking lot.

Gorgeous waterfalls. I don’t recommend bringing your dog nor little ones. It’s pretty slippery.

What a great hike! Went on 10/25. Missed peak foliage by about a week or so. Only hiked once prior to this. Difficulty is moderate. A few steep incline/declines but very manageable. Wear good boots as trails can be wet and slippery.

Beautiful trail, slippery in some spots and very crowded yesterday but nice to see so many people and dogs out and about to see the falls and the beautiful changing colors of the season.

Awesome experience no matter which direction you go (number of photos posted pretty much says it all). So many waterfalls, and the trail is really cool the way it winds around them on numerous wide rock steps (though many of the them are wet). Highland trail is well maintained as well.

This trail is awesome! My battery was running out so I couldn’t record the whole trip. Bring good shoes for climbing rock steps. There are several. Also, we got there around 11 and had to park in the 2nd lot which adds a little more than 1 mile to the hike. If you want a 3 mile loop, try to get to the park early to get a spot in the main lot.

Hiked the upper portion of the falls trail with my mom for her first official hike! She loved it and did a great job!

One of my favorite trails so far. Whichever direction you choose you will follow one river down to where they both meet and follow the other one back up. Both have an abundance of waterfalls! Rocky and always wet. Be careful. Bring your dog. Bring your yoga mat. You won't want to leave.

This hike is beyond amazing even in the pouring rain! Highly recommend hiking boots with traction! The hike is extremely hilly but worth every bit of the workout! Every waterfall is unique in its own way! So many great photography spots!

Accessed by the parking lot on RT 118, the total mileage is approximately 5.5 miles including the access trail to Waters Meet where the loop begins. This was our second time hiking here and we still think this is one of the best hikes around. Keep in mind this is a gorge hike so you'll be going up and down a LOT of wet, steep steps with no handrails and possibly through a fair bit of muddy puddles. The views are worth it! One bit of advice for novice hikers...please be nice to yourself and wear good hiking shoes. I saw several women wearing flip flops really struggling, one of whom fell twice near us. My 8 yr old loved this hike and she easily completed it with us.

Great gorge hike but a busy trail. Lots of wet rock based stair steps. Moderate difficulty hike but definitely a good workout. Plan to spend time enjoying each waterfall.
