This is really more of a nice walking trail than a hike. Pretty big puddles and muddy but still a nice walk along the creek.

Little muddy with some big puddles but able to get through all the areas. Even took a great detour to the creek and walked along side for awhile.

Gorgeous little trail. It was an easy hike, really more of a walk on a smooth gravel trail that's pretty flat. There are a couple spots that are a little muddy, and a couple large puddles that are easily skirted. Others have pointed out that the bridge is janky, and it is, but there's a little bypass that gives a great view of the water.

Was pretty nice. Still muddy and water in places even though it hasn’t rained. Quads on trail probably contribute to the quality. Bridges need repaired. Not sure who maintains this but someone may get injured on one bridge which cracked when he walked over it.

the first little bridge is fairly eroded, the second is a rusty mess, but the third and longest one is just straight up janky. so much so that we just turned around and gave up. too much of a drop to risk. someone covered up the drop with some loose branches, still not confident to try and cross. pretty views of the creek if you take a little side trail to the left eventually.

Very easy trail. Good if you're looking for distance but not difficulty. Flat, wide, clean trail that was a bit muddy and definitely buggy but was quite pretty. Beautiful little beach spot towards the end.

Easy walk, though recent rains made for loads of puddles and mud.

Highly recommend this trail to anyone in the area looking for a peaceful hike. Slightly overgrown in some areas but overall a very nice trail. Lots of shade to keep cool. Many fishing outlets leading to creek. Beautiful scenery. I took my dog and he had a blast. Quiet & not heavily trafficked. The “Volant Shops” were so quaint & cute to check out afterwards. We will definitely be back.

Like others have said, bring bug spray!! Trail was wet in places and once it went by the river has pretty views. The trail is not marked and forks at a certain point. We took the left fork and the trail ended after the river turned a corner so I think the right fork may be the way to the 4 mile hike.

Easy hike for any skill level. Went with my kids. Nice views of the lake. However, you definitely want to bring old shoes and bug spray! The trail was very muddy in a lot of places and the mosquitos were awful farther down the trail. Next time I’ll go better prepared.

Park by the railroad car shops in Volant, as far back as you can go to find the trailhead. The trail is an old railroad track, and covered with gravel in most sections. The trail was relatively flat with a few bends. The land on the non-river side of the trail was posted throughout, but the riverside land was available to explore and fish. There were plenty of great views of the water, I will definitely be hiking this trail again.
