We enjoyed this version of trail combos particularly the back end of the bow tie (traveling with 4 experienced hiking kiddos aged 6-9). The trail that runs parallel to the river/creek was dynamic and filled with a bunch of fun bridge crossings and massive timbers. Traffic was also extremely light in this section. This starting point also allows for easy parking (no one else was parked there). In the front half there were several sections that had a lot of mud however there were some side trail cuts that allowed you to pass it unscathed. Overall a fun easy trail that has some scenic parts and a beautiful view around the lake (much more populated there though).

4/25/2020. R AMC. Scenery: 5. Very quiet and so pretty winding through the woods, along the creeks, waterways and over bridges. People : 1. Apparently they stock the ponds and there must be another parking lot since there were like 2 cars in the parking lot when we started hiking. There was one group of three that observed social distancing and we thank them. The others stand in trails and make no effort to get out of our way to let us pass. We have to stand and wait for minutes staring at them and finally give up, mask up and and walk way off the trail and into the woods to avoid them. They just look. They just don’t care or get it. It’s frustrating.

This a great place for anyone! Our favorite in the park is the red rock trail. It follows the necopek creek and all told is about 2 miles. We add on a connector trail to get back to the lake and that adds another mile. Not too rocky with just enough up and down well maintained trails.

Enjoyed this trail. I was the only one hiking this trail today and it was just so peaceful. Love the pine forest area around the creek. Lots of frogs at the Ponds today.

Ok trail mostly through the forest canopy. Trails clearly marked. Easy trail good for strolling. Not much to see a few lake views nothing spectacular. Probably would be good in the fall. Buggy.

This trail was a good easy hike. Nothing too strenuous and some cool streams and bridges along the way. The bugs were terrible though and the trials could be a little confusing without the app.

The blackflies do not care what percentage of DEET you are wearing.

Only giving 4 because I came here in hopes of hiking... although it's not much of a "hike," there were a lot of really great walking paths. They aren't very long distance so this is a nice place to go if you want to be in nature but are on a time constraint. There were a lot of areas completely washed out and muddy that older people might not want to risk but we did okay walking on the very outsides of the mud pits. There were some folks near the lake and pond, but trails were completely empty. There is also an awesome play/learning area for children that even I enjoyed, including a section of wildflowers dedicated to butterflies! Beware to anyone or anypup spooked by other dogs, most of the dogs I came in contact with were not leashed. !!!

Hike around lake was fine. The rest of the hike was a mess. Deep mud, many trees across trail, mosquitoes, ticks and not much to see. The part along the creek was fine once you got to it. Instead of a loop on the second loop, I’d go down and back, heading straight to the creek and forget the loop.
