Rail-trail with McDonald Trestle & connection to the Panhandle Trail. (5 miles) The McDonald Trestle over Noblestown Road is the centerpiece of the Montour Trail. Nearly 1000 feet in length and 70 feet high, it cost $470,000 to referbish with a smooth concrete deck. At McDonald you can also connect to the Panhandle Trail which currently extends Northeast to Collier but will eventually cover the nearly 30 miles from there to Weirton, WV. The trail ends abruptly just short of Venice where a bridge that once took the rail line over Rt. 50 is long gone. If you went this far, you'll have tu turn back about 4/10 of a mile to take a short on-road bypass to connect to the Cecil section of the trail.
