6/13/2020. A. AMC. No R. What a great day. The sanctuary outside of the preserve building had baby squirrels, chipmunks, a variety of birds and turtles. We bought permit and were able to access to blinds we were saw a bald eagle, turtles, families of geese, and swans. It’s an easy hike but until we wandered off the path to the blinds and back... we walked like 6 miles.

Beautiful area! Went with my oldest daughter.About half of the trail is shaded, probably a good idea to apply sunscreen. It is also buggy in some areas but not too bad we used bug spray. A lot of nice wildlife and water fowl..

I love this place, always have; brings back childhood memories. Fairly easy, great for bird watching. The fossil pit across the parking lot (towards the end of the lake, not the entrance) is great too.

Great views of the lake. We saw a hawk go fishing and eat its lunch on a tree branch right next to us. There are small looping path that go to the lake.

Our "go-to" trail for local hikes. It's 4.5 miles with a loop that follows the lake. Several hundred snow geese stop by every spring. They're here now. It's a wonderful spectacle!

It is a nice area and well maintained, a lot of wildlife and beautiful views. Not a lot of people but sometimes there are buses of schoolchildren during the week. Good educational opportunities for kids like educational center and fossil pit. One nag NOT PET FRIENDLY.
